What Is Bryant?

So, what exactly is Bryant? Bryant's roots date back to 1904 when Charles Bryant established the Natural Gas Regulator Company in Cleveland, Ohio. Over time, the company evolved into Bryant Heater & Manufacturing and was eventually acquired by Dresser Industries in 1934. Following a series of acquisitions and mergers, Bryant's parent company at the time, Affiliated Gas Equipment, merged with Carrier in 1955.

Today, Bryant operates under the umbrella of Carrier Global Corporation. Both companies manufacture their HVAC systems in the same factories using identical parts. While most of their models are virtually the same, opting for Bryant allows you to enjoy a slightly more budget-friendly option.

Bryant Review

Ranked #2 in Best HVAC Companies of 2023

Best for:

  • Anyone who wants a Carrier-quality HVAC system for less.
  • Those looking for an exceptionally quiet system.
  • Homeowners concerned about energy efficiency.

In terms of reviews, Bryant scores an impressive 4.1 rating. It has been ranked as the #2 Best HVAC Company of 2023 by U.S. News. Bryant is an ideal choice for those seeking a Carrier-quality HVAC system at a more affordable price point. Notably, Bryant systems are known for their exceptional quietness, making them perfect for homeowners who value peace and tranquility. Additionally, Bryant Systems prioritizes energy efficiency, making them an excellent choice for those who care about reducing their environmental footprint.

However, it's worth mentioning that if an elongated warranty is your primary concern, or if you desire the latest innovations in the HVAC industry, Bryant may not be the best fit for you.

Given that Bryant Heating & Cooling Systems is owned by Carrier Global Corporation, it's no surprise that Bryant and Carrier share many similarities. They are produced in the same factories using the same components. The primary distinction lies in the brand name and slightly lower price tag offered by Bryant. However, it's worth noting that Carrier often introduces new advances and technologies before they make their way into Bryant systems.

Bryant's top-tier air conditioner showcases an inverter-driven compressor and a sound blanket that reduces noise levels to as low as 51 decibels. Their furnaces deliver consistent comfort and achieve impressive levels of up to 98.3% Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE). While slightly behind Carrier's top performance of 98.5% AFUE, Bryant furnaces still provide exceptional quality. Reviewers suggest that if you desire Carrier quality but have budgetary constraints, exploring Bryant's equivalent models would be a wise decision.

Bryant offers a range of products across three series: Evolution™ System, Preferred™ Series, and Legacy™ Line. The Evolution series boasts top-notch performance, while the Preferred line provides energy-efficient features at a more affordable cost. For budget-conscious customers, the Legacy series offers budget-friendly options.

Bryant's air conditioners and heat pumps come with single-stage, two-stage, or variable-speed compressors and utilize Puron, a non-ozone-depleting R-410a refrigerant. The furnaces feature single-, two-, or modulating-stage gas valves, variable-, multi-, or fixed-speed blowers. In addition to air conditioners, heat pumps, and furnaces, Bryant also sells smart thermostats, geothermal heat pumps, air purifiers, dehumidifiers, CO alarms, UV lamps, and light commercial systems.

Although Bryant is generally less expensive than Carrier, the Evolution series models can still be pricier than competing brands. However, reviewers praise the Legacy series for providing good value and wireless thermostat capability rarely found in this price range.

Experts consider Bryant systems among the best in the industry overall. However, some critics argue that given the cost, the warranty could be more comprehensive. Most Bryant products come with a 10-year limited warranty, covering specified parts when registered within 90 days. Certain Evolution products even offer a warranty that replaces the entire unit if the compressor or heat exchanger fails within 10 years.
